Expanding the Reach of Safety: Assessing Safety and Risk with Survivors of Gender-Based Violence

This Mini Resource Spotlight introduces the Accelerated Safety Assessment and Risk Management (A-SARM) and Youth Safety Assessment and Risk Management (Y-SARM) frameworks developed by The Redwood, a shelter-led approach to strengthening GBV sector and community capacity to respond to safety needs and risk. Designed for service providers in the gender-based violence sector as well as professionals across sectors such as wellness, social services, health care and education, these frameworks equip participants with the knowledge and skills to identify, assess and respond to the safety needs of survivors of gender-based violence. Participants will gain an understanding of how A-SARM and Y-SARM support responsive, trauma-informed and survivor-centred approaches to safety assessment and risk management.
