The Centre for Research & Education on Violence Against Women & Children (CREVAWC) offers awards that recognize university students and community members who dedicate their time and expertise to address issues related to violence against women and children.

Scotiabank Undergraduate Award for Studies in Violence Against Women and Children
Established by Scotiabank, awarded annually to an undergraduate student in any year of any program who demonstrates strong academic achievement and financial need. The student must have an interest in research and education regarding violence against women and children and be involved with the Centre for Research & Education on Violence Against Women & Children (CREVAWC). Preference will be given to a student in the Faculty of Education who is involved with a community agency, and whose work addresses issues relating to violence against women and children.

Scotiabank Graduate Award for Studies in Violence Against Women and Children
Established by Scotiabank, awarded annually to a graduate student in any year of any program who demonstrates strong academic achievement and financial need. Candidates must have an interest in research and education regarding violence against women and children and involvement with the Centre for Research & Education on Violence Against Women & Children (CREVAWC). Preference will be given to a student in the Faculty of Education who is involved with a community agency, and whose work addresses issues relating to violence against women and children.

Elisabeth Steel Reurink Memorial Award
The Elisabeth Steel Reurink Award is awarded annually to a student connected with the Centre for Research & Education on Violence Against Women & Children who is interested in violence against women issues and plays an active role in his/her community. Elisabeth died in a skiing accident in March 2009. Elisabeth, daughter of Linda Steel and Brian Reurink, wrote that “Society and the world are always in need of change or fixing because as soon as we fix one problem another one arises. With every problem people have the ability and the capacity to be compassionate and reach out to help their neighbour, even if their neighbour is half-way around the world.”
